This is starting to make a few of us a little nervous, so here are some tweets to show what we know.
(No joke, we’re a little concerned. If anyone lives or works near him, please let him know we’re looking for him. I’ll try to keep the page updated and/or people can leave comments)
His most recent tweet was about 8:00 AM Thursday, Sep 3.

I emailed @JeremyHewitt @ 9am this morning. Jeremy works for David… or at least he did a few months ago. Not sure if he still does but Jeremy’s email addy is current since he sent me a note 2 weeks ago. I also sent him a DM but he doesn’t seem to be using Twitter anymore. No word back yet. CLT_CPA offered to go by his house if we can get more specific address info.
@CLT_CPA is going to stop by his house in a little bit. http://twitter.com/CLT_CPA/status/3757561687
Thanks. It’s almost noon and still no word from him.
@Cara @CoreyCreed Walked thru parking lot of what I THINK is his bldg, don’t see a single Honda. Company name not on their door? @davidkyle
his phone is turned off now
Les Porter has mentioned that David Kyle owns a new Honda Coupe. He thinks it is dark in color. See http://twitter.com/LesPorter/statuses/3757800287
To clarify: we’re not worried about David just because he hasn’t Tweeted in over 24 hours. We’re concerned because he missed a big meeting he organized last night. It was his friend who came in as the guest presenter. No updates since early yesterday. He hasn’t returned any phone calls. His voicemail box is full. All those things combined have us a little worried. So for those who think we’re overreacting, that’s fine, and I hope we are. But I’d rather make some effort to make sure he’s OK than do nothing.
I just had conversations with Keith Schilling, Maggie and Cara. We are all still concerned. NOTE: It’s not just because he did not tweet for 24 hours (duh). It is because we all expected to see him last night and he did not show nor let anyone know why he missed. He also is not answering any emails, phone calls, etc. We all hope it is just nothing, but are rightly concerned.
Keith Schilling just called the two big local hospitals and they have not admitted him, so that’s good. See http://twitter.com/keithschilling/statuses/3762329262
I noticed while looking for some info on David that he has Asberger’s Syndrome. that combined with his MIA status concerns me that IF he is on any sort of medication that something may be wrong related and he really does NEED some help.
Since it has been almost 24hrs since anyone has been able to contact him it may be time to contact CMPD to do a welfare check on him, especially since he has a medical condition.
Does anyone know his exact address? CMPD can be very helpful in this situation (ie contacting neighbors etc.).
Whew! He finally called in. He’s ok.
He just tweeted out to everyone…
oh man, i’m so embarrased. I’m in Greenville SC. Just got out of the hospital. I became very ill yesterday afternoon.
lost my phone in emergency room. Turns out I have really bad food poisioning called campylobacter. I’m still very sick.
Staying with parents.
It has been a month and a half since the above happened. Come to find out, David had some pretty serious food poisoning. About a week or so after “going missing” for a day or so, he seemed to be feeling better. I was happy to hang out with him a little at the next SEMCLT meeting and this past weekend at BarCamp Charlotte.
Quite honestly, he mentioned that the whole thing was a little embarrassing to him. Yet, at least he knows we care.
No kidding, I was literally looking up the phone number online for the Charlotte Police Department when he tweeted out that he was ok. Glad he’s ok and back to health.
